The STITCH Long Arm Service
At The STITCH we offer computerized edge-to-edge long arm services. Turn around time varies but is typically 4-6 weeks. We will not add your name to the list until your quilt is finished and delivered to The STITCH. We generally do not trim quilts because most people have their preferred method of trimming. We do not offer custom quilting but would be happy to refer you to a custom long arm quilter. A deposit is not required but payment in full is expected when you pick up your quilt.
Quilt top:
Please make sure that your quilt is pressed and the seams are flat to ensure the best results. Trim any loose threads so that they don’t show through on lighter colors. Please remove all pet hair. If there is a definite “top” please mark it with a note or safety pin, as it isn’t always obvious. Please bring your top and backing in separately.
Quilt backing:
The back needs to be bigger than the top so it can be properly loaded on the long arm. The minimum is 4-6 inches bigger all the way around. For example; if your quilt is 60" x 80" your quilt back needs to be at least 68” x 88.” Sheets, blankets and polar fleece will not be accepted for quilt backings. When piecing your backing please make sure all pieces are the same length on the top and bottom so you have a straight cut on each end. Trim selvedge edges on the seam and use a ½” seam. Press your seams open on the back, this will create less bulk in those areas as your quilt being quilted.
Batting:
We prefer to use the batting that we sell in the shop. We offer a choice of Hobbs 80/20 batting, polyester and Warm and Natural. We can also provide wool batting and black batting on request.
Pattern Choice:
We have many patterns for our customers to choose from. We will help you choose a pattern that suits your quilt.
Thread:
We offer King Tut and Glide Thread in many color options. For best results, we prefer to match the thread and bobbin color.
Pricing:
The cost for long arm services is .018 cents per square inch regardless of what pattern that you choose. For example a quilt 60” x 80” is $86.40. Batting, thread and bobbins are additional.
Additional Services:
Piecing of backing is $10.
